Question: What is the difference between the community guidelines and code of conduct?
Answer: The community guidelines are values we hope the Smash scene will uphold. The Code of Conduct are offenses that can potentially be bannable conduct. This is what the ban and appeals process will use as the standard.
Question: What’s the difference between sharing and publication/platforming?
Answer: Sharing is the private sharing of information, in a way that could be considered not doxxing, which only concerns with the publication of that information. This understanding is in deference to relevant Jurisdiction.
Question: What if the players are banned somewhere but not everywhere?
Answer: If the player is listed as a banned player under the CSPR in Section A, then they should be considered a safety risk and banned everywhere. Our list is a maintained list of players banned across several regions, or the ban is severe enough to be across all regions. Either way, we aim to maintain a cohesive list of moderate to severe bans. Allowing a player on the CSPR lists to attend your event is willingly allowing a banned player to an event.
Question: What happens in places where it's illegal to ban someone?
Answer: Hence the willingly section under our end. If it is illegal to ban a player from your tournament, then you are not willingly letting them play. We hope to work in collaboration to find solutions to these problems in regions where this is a problem. Please keep in mind that some regions already have solutions to this such as going through their respective legal system. Regions that this applies to are included but not limited to France, Germany, Italy, etc.
Question: What if some player really doesn't want their results of a Lumirank or SSBMRanking tournament to count for the ranking and decides to make false accusations?
Answer: We hope that we never have to deal with this scenario, however, a ban list will not be made retroactive for an event. If the player was not banned prior to the event, then there was no ban to uphold. False accusations will not help anyone keep their results from counting towards ranking.
Question: What if a player is banned within days after attending an event?
Answer: If a player gets banned after a tournament occurs, then there was no banned player knowingly allowed to compete. Retroactively excluding tournaments doesn’t really make sense and would probably impact majors the most as the tournaments with the largest attendance. We see this concern and have determined that this is the best course of action for this issue.
Question: What are the effects if the banned player shows up as a spectator on the day?
Answer: This is why it is so important to have security at an event. In the majority of cases, Tournaments are private events in a rented hall. The organizer or security can have people removed who are not supposed to be there. The general idea is that banned players can not be knowingly permitted to participate in an event. If they come in as a spectator and are not recognized, and do not participate in the event, the event did not knowingly allow them to participate.
Question: How do you make everything airtight in a conduct?
Answer: The unfortunate answer is each potential case could have different context and nuances. It'll be tough to implement certain rules to certain scenarios based on international rulings/politics. This is why we are making our processes and policies as transparent as possible. As long as we have feedback and cooperation from organizers, we will continue to adapt our policies and documents to better our resources for communities to use.
Question: What happens if a banned player buys a spectator pass the day of an event?
Answer: We do not control or enforce spectator vetting as we believe that it is on the organizer or venue to make that decision. However, if a banned player signs up for a pre-published bracket prior to the event and they are apart of section A, we will recommend to the rankings to disqualify the event as a whole. If a banned player in Section A is seen competing at an event, please contact us by placing an incident ticket in our Discord.
